Kofola
Kofola is one of the most iconic beverages in Czechoslovak history and a symbol of domestic production.
Kofola is one of the most iconic beverages in Czechoslovak history and a symbol of domestic production. It was created at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s in response to the growing popularity of foreign cola drinks, with a secret recipe that combines herbs, spices, and fruit extracts. From the very beginning, Kofola has been produced in Krnov, which has become its heart and home.
Although Kofola’s sales declined significantly during the challenging 1990s, the Samaras family succeeded in reviving its production. Today, Kofola ČeskoSlovensko no longer produces only traditional beverages; it also tends herb fields, preserves apple orchards, explores the world of coffee cultivation, and protects valuable mineral and spring water resources.
Thanks to its unmistakable taste and the nostalgia it evokes, Kofola has become an iconic drink in the Moravian-Silesian Region and throughout the Czech Republic. It is now a symbol of tradition, family gatherings, and summer experiences, and a visit to Krnov offers the perfect opportunity to remember that some flavors never fade—they simply mature along with the generations that love them.
Kofola is currently writing a new chapter in the region. The family-owned company Kofola ČeskoSlovensko is breathing new life into the Nové koupelny building on the grounds of the Hlubina Mine. In addition to offices, it will also create a visitor attraction in the form of an interactive museum dedicated to the traditional Kofola brand.
